After seeing so many students struggling through college and quite often failing, Dr. Harris felt that she needed to find a way to make college a much more successful experience for others. She heard many horror stories and had seen first hand what happened when students were not prepared for the challenges of college. Many of the students who dropped out ultimately found themselves employed in jobs that they hated. Most never really found a career that they enjoyed. These types of problems persisted at a national level. In 4 years, only 36.2% of students enrolled in 4-year colleges and universities in the U.S. will actually graduate .
Dr. Harris believed that more students and parents needed to be aware of the expectations and requirements of college. Today’s students need much more support and preparation before and during college. So the Solving the College Puzzle books were born. They are filled with tips and strategies to help students to maneuver successfully through college and deal with potential issues before they become a problem.
In addition to authoring books, Dr. Harris provides services such as coaching and workshops to BA, Master’s and Ph.D. students.
