“Ask Dr. Harris” coming soon!

February 6, 2010

I know many of you have questions about college and no one to help you find the answers. So I decided to add a Q & A section to the blog. Reoccurring questions will be added to the newsletter too. Eventually, I will probably make a searchable page where you can read all the questions by topic. But until I have enough, they will be posted on the blog in the future.

I feel that everyone should be able to ask any question even if they think it is embarrassing or silly. Just think, you can ask right here and no one will know it is you! I plan to post the first name, city and state of the person requesting assistance. If you have a name like no other, then go ahead and use an alias.

Don’t wait for the Blog to get started next month to submit your question. Click on the button below and Ask Dr. Harris!

Welcome to the Solving the College Puzzle Blog!

February 1, 2010

Solving the College Puzzle Logo

The Solving the College Puzzle Blog is for students of all ages! Starting in March, 2010, you’ll find information for teens and new college students in addition to Adults/nontraditional students. I also plan to write a few blog entries just for parents.

I am writing this blog to provide you with a variety of resources so you will not only be ready for college, but you will be able to tackle any challenges that may arise.  Grad school students: I have haven’t forgotten about you. In addition to general articles on juggling work, school and family, I have added a graduate school category that will provide tips and strategies for Master’s and Ph.D. studen

So, what am I going to talk about? I will discuss a variety of topics such as academics, school policies that you must know, study and test taking skills, surviving dorms, joining a sorority or fraternity, organization, budgeting, scams, and much more. Because adult/nontraditional students face different challenges, I will also include topics such as returning to school after an extended period of time, juggling work and family, stress, helping your children to understand your extensive academic obligations, planning your day, finding time for school work, etc.

If you are interested in receiving blog updates please complete the form on this page (right side of screen). In addition to receiving notices about new blog posts, you will also get website updates, our quarterly newsletter and event information.
